Hair & Makeup: Ashley Tolman Beauty
As women, it’s all too common for us to put our self-care on the back burner. Even, throwing it out the window altogether.
Don’t let your self-care routine get placed on the back burner. Babe, you are worthy of feeling like a million bucks.
We as women are usually very busy, between careers, children, relationships, school, and more. We can totally get the feeling of guilt sometimes when it comes to spending money on ourselves, taking a day off work, or even simply buying some new for ourselves.
We have totally felt this way at different points in our lives. We especially feel this way when it comes to shopping for ourselves instead of our children. When we step into our favorite stores and see all of the new season’s clothing and decor are out, especially with Fall coming up… WATCH OUT. We have a tendency to fill up our carts with a ton of things we probably don’t really need. Let’s be honest, that doesn’t serve much purpose except that temporary moment of retail therapy…. So, self-care can look a little more like working on reigning in our own frivolous spending. Simply so we can focus more on spending money on things that serve a deeper purpose in our lives.
So, we’re here to remind you…
Self-care, girl, you need to keep up with that and it looks different from person to person.
For Ashley, self-care looks like daily workouts to keep me moving and healthy and show my daughter that being strong is so vital. It looks like staying home in bed on Sunday mornings and watching endless Netflix – even when I could be cleaning my house or some other menial task. Even a family date when we can focus on our daughter. It means acknowledging my days of depression and finding ways to manage my stress and anxiety. It’s taking vitamins because I know I don’t always eat salads for dinner and my body needs the proper fuel to function.
For Christie, self-care looks like daily meditation and self-coaching. It looks like putting on a fabulous outfit with red lipstick. Self-care is a cup of hot tea, plant-based diet and walking in the garden. Self-care is putting 1-2 dream trips on the yearly calendar to have something special to look forward to.
A boudoir experience can be self-care.
A boudoir session can help you honor your body in a way you have never honored it before. It can change the way you see yourself, and the way you talk to yourself. It can put some pep back in your step and give you a newfound sense of self and self-worth.
You should never, ever feel guilty about doing things for yourself. Take time away from the daily grind to fill your cup so that you can be the best version of yourself. If it makes you feel good and keeps you sane; or if you think it’s going to help your confidence or see your beauty – that matters, too.
“I lied and said I was busy.
I was busy;
but not in a way most people understand.I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing irrational thoughts. I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself I am okay.Sometimes, this is my busy – and I will not apologize for it.”
