We know that choosing boudoir outfits can be a little overwhelming. So, we are her to help! We have a variety of outfit suggestions based on your specific body type and we are here to help. We know that looking for lingerie may feel foreign, uncomfortable, and stressful. You may not know where to start with cuts, support, or styles, so we’ve put together a list to help you find what will be the most flattering for your body type.
The ultimate goal when finding outfits to wear for your boudoir session is to feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable. Here are some suggestions for boudoir outfits based on different body types:
First: Be open to trying outfits on. Many pieces look and certainly feel different on from what they may look like on a hanger.
Second: always make sure you pick outfits that flatter your body type!
- many women aren’t comfortable with their stomachs, we always encourage women to try on a few pieces where your stomach isn’t the primary focus, such as bodysuits.
- Thigh High Stockings and Stilettos are great for those who want to slim their legs.
- If your bum is an area you aren’t comfortable with, you may lean towards covering it up! This is actually the opposite of what you want! We always encourage clients to trust us in less is more. We always encourage clients to bring a thong or g-string to get the best booty photos. When it comes to tushy photos, more coverage = less flattering.
Here’s a quick “Lingerie For Your Body Type” Guide of what to look for:
Hourglass – Shoulders & Hips are in perfect alignment with a tinier waist
If you have an hourglass figure with a defined waist, you can highlight your curves with form-fitting lingerie pieces like a corset, bustier, or high-waisted panties. You can also try a Bodysuit/Teddy, Bra & Panty Set, Garter Belt & Stockings.
Pear Shaped – Smaller on top with wider hips
If you have a pear-shaped figure with a smaller upper body and wider hips and thighs, you can balance out your proportions by choosing lingerie with details on the top half. For smaller chests we love a good lace bralette or a strappy bustier. You can also try a high-waisted thong or a garter belt to accentuate your waist.
Apple shaped – Deliciously full all over with shorter torso
If you have an apple-shaped figure with a larger midsection, you can create the illusion of a smaller waist with a corset or a high-waisted garter belt paired with stockings. We highly recommend staying away from babydoll or chemise with a flowy bottom because the extra fabric tends to make a body look bigger than it actually is. It also becomes difficult to work with in many poses where you are laying down.
Rectangle / Athletic – All the straight lines without much, if any, curves
If you have an athletic build with a straighter figure, you can create the appearance of curves with lingerie that adds volume to your bust and hips. A push-up bra, padded bralette, or bustier can help enhance your bust, while a high-waisted thong with a garter belt can enhance your waist! Another great option are Bodysuits/Teddies With Low Cut Or Deep V Neckline.
Inverted Triangle – Wider shoulders/top and smaller hips
If you have an inverted triangle figure with wider shoulder/top and smaller hips, you can balance out your proportions by by choosing lingerie pieces that draw attention to your lower half and elongate your torso. We highly recommend balconette bras, bodysuits and garter belts.
We’ll be breaking down each figure in a dedicated blog post that we can’t wait to share with you.
